This app was originally developed by Nhan Nguyen. Introduction: Between 2020 and 2024, U.S. population changes varied widely across counties. While many urban and suburban counties experienced growth—especially in the South and West—numerous rural and post-industrial counties in the Midwest and Northeast saw population decline. Key drivers of change include domestic migration, international immigration, birth rates, and aging populations. Counties in Texas, Florida, and Arizona saw some of the largest gains, while others in states like Illinois and West Virginia faced ongoing losses.
